Finland

Finland lies in northern Europe, became an independent republic in 1917 and has been a member of the European Union since 1995. Capital city: Helsinki (population 560,000). Finland has a population of some 5.2 million and a land area in excess of 338,000 km2. The total number of enterprises registered in Finland is more than 230,000, 99.8 % operates in the SME sector.

Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences

 

There are a total of 28 Universities of Applied Sciences, UAS, (previously polytechnics) in Finland. Of them 26 operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, Police College of Finland under the Ministry of the Interior and Åland Polytechnic under Åland Provincial Government. Today Finnish UAS's employ more than 10,000 persons and provide tuition for over 125,000 students.
